Doctor of Medicine (MD)
About
The Doctor of Medicine program spans five years, divided into two phases: a two-year basic medical science phase followed by a three-year clinical phase. Each year consists of two semesters, each lasting 20 weeks for teaching and learning. Clinical practitioners will engage in teaching activities in the second year to provide clinical orientation and interpretation. Basic science lectures will be incorporated during the three clinical years to ensure vertical integration between basic medical science and clinical teaching. The initial two years of basic medical science take place at the Petaling Jaya campus, while the clinical phase occurs in hospitals and clinics located in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia.
Upon completion of the MD program, graduates will possess the necessary knowledge, essential clinical competencies, and appropriate professional attitudes and values to function effectively as primary care physicians. The responsibilities of medical doctors encompass patient examination, diagnosis, prescription of medication, minor surgical procedures, and treatment of injuries, diseases, and other conditions. Additionally, doctors engage in activities related to community development, serving as role models. Lincoln University College, Faculty of Medicine, is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, a collaboration between the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER).
