About this course

With a good number of seminar series' with editors, correspondents, reporters and other strong media industry players visiting UL to educate students about key contemporary issues, gain skills and valuable know-hows in Journalism and Media.

This course is designed to teach you to critically engage with society and its many operating stuctures of power. Among the skills you will develop for professional use include reporting, feature writing, investigative reporting, design, editing; and even how to manage magazines and shorthands.

Entry Requirements

CAO Minimum Points Entry 2017: 420

Leaving Certificate (or an approved equivalent) with minimum 6 subjects

  • Two H5 grades
  • Four O6 (Ordinary Level) grades; OR
  • Four H7 (Higher Level) grades
  • minimum Grade H3 in French or German or Irish or Spanish

*Subjects must include Mathematics, Irish or another language, and English.

**Grade F6 for Foundation Mathematics also satisfies minimum entry requirements. Foundation Maths is not reckonable for scoring purposes.

**Elective for Language Studies require a H3 grade in language of choice.
